VIDEO: Darwin offshore gas rig fishing. The Stena Clyde.
It was only our second time ever fishing in Darwin. My mate Dylan had driven his boat up 1,000km from Borroloola to Darwin. My wife and I just happened to be in Darwin at the time, so Dylan and I decided to go out for the big trip.
We find out about the Gas Rig from some mates. It’s located 60KM offshore from Darwin.
We set out at 3AM, so it was still dark when we first arrived at the rig. We had a good day fishing. I caught my biggest ever Spanish Mackerel, which was 99.5cm. I couldn’t believe that I missed out on the magic metre by just half a centimeter!
I’d love to head out there fishing again one day, but it won’t always be there. The Stena Clyde Gas Rig is movable.
